The device has a vertical plastic-tube (1) vertically attached to a concrete pipe. A wall of the plastic tube has perforations, through which seawater flows. The plastic tube is surrounded by an insulated coil (2). An electromagnet (4) with residual core is held inside the tube by a floating body (3) in an upper region of the sea water. The electromagnet with power supply lines and a potentiometer forms an electric circuit enclosing the coil. A current consumer e.g. heating system and electrodialysis plant for production of drinking water, with supply lines forms another electric circuit.
