The device has a set of distance sensors (1a-1d) positioned at different positions, and a set of sensors (3a-3j) positioned at an inner side of a goal post or positioned at different positions on or under a goal line (2). Two carriers (5, 6) are spaced apart from each other and positioned outside a playing field. One of the distance sensors is attached to a lower side of the carriers, and the other distance sensor is attached to an upper side of the carriers. A detection direction of the sensors is directed perpendicularly upward. An independent claim is also included for a method for goal recognition.
