The method involves providing a three-phase synchronous motor with three field coils and three synchronized power output stages. A pulse-width modulated output voltage is supplied by one of the power output stages. The pulse width of the output voltage is reduced and/or extended to small values in a predetermined sequence. The pulse-width modulation of all synchronized power output stages is carried out in a fixed phase correlation to each other. The difference of current ripples of two motor supply lines is determined with sensors. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for operating a three-phase synchronous motor.
