Automotive gear selection detector assembly has inclination sensor and drive train moment sensor

An automotive (1) assembly (2) detects the choice of gear made by the driver and has a longitudinal inclination sensor (3) and an accelerometer (4). The assembly further has a moment sensor (5) detecting the drive train (7) moment, a straight and level zero point sensor (6). The assembly detects the change from a first gear to a second gear, and an evaluation unit (9) that detects which gear has been selected, based upon the vehicle pitch angle, acceleration, drive train moment, and the straight and level zero point sensor (6).
