The sensor has a pressure transducer (5) e.g. piezoelectric element, which is evaluated electronically, and an adjusting mechanism adjusting initial pressure at muscle. The mechanism has elastic or inelastic compensation elements e.g. springs, for compensating fat layer by exerting force on the transducer. Penetration of the sensor into a fat layer of an external body (2) is stopped by a locking. Dimension of a front surface of the sensor lies between 4 and 0.2 centimeter square, where the body comes in contact with the front surface of the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring muscle strain.
