The driver circuit (6) has a controlled gate input (9) for switching-on or switching-off the circuit. A controllable voltage source (U-positive,U-negative) and inductive two terminal network (L-g) are provided, where the controllable voltage source supplies a switching voltage (U-k). The inductive two terminal network is connected to the voltage source by a connection (14), where another connection (16) is connected with the gate input. An independent claim is included for a method for switching a power transistor.
