The device (1) has a particle filter (50) for collecting exhaust particles in an exhaust passage (30). A temperature determination unit determines a temperature inside the filter. A gas concentration determination unit determines a concentration of a gas flowing into the filter. An evaluation unit evaluates a precipitate amount of the particles, and a regeneration unit regenerates the filter by combustion of the particles. The evaluation unit includes a correcting unit for correcting the evaluation of the precipitate amount by application of the temperature and by the concentration of the gas. An independent claim is also included for a method for evaluating a precipitate amount of exhaust particles of an internal-combustion engine.
