The method involves applying a powder- or paint layer (12) on a surface of a component (10) e.g. housing, of a hearing device. The powder- or the paint layer is locally melted by a light source e.g. laser, so that the melted powder- or paint layer is combined with the component surface. Powder- or paint layer residues, which are not melted, are removed from the component surface by a solvent. Another powder- or paint layer is applied and melted in an intermediate surface on the component surface between areas with the melted powder- or paint layer. An independent claim is also included for a hearing device with a component e.g. housing.
