The cylinder has a piston unit (2) with a piston and a piston rod, where the piston unit is axially movably guided in an interior of a housing (1). A primary sealant (3) is provided in a front area of the piston unit for sealing a pressure chamber (5) and is arranged at a distance to a secondary sealant (4). A part of the piston unit carrying the sealants resides within the interior, where the part of the piston unit carrying the primary sealant is formed as a bearing surface opposite to the housing, and a pivot of the piston unit is arranged in the area of the primary sealant.
