The device has a gripper system for holding a sheet (22) at its edge. Rotating members are provided which have equipment for temporarily holding the gripper system. The gripper system is transferable downstream from one rotating member to the next adjacent member and along a feedback path to a rotating element located upstream. The rotating members form a part of the feedback path.
