The device has a coupling housing supported on a pivot of a cylinder i.e. plate cylinder (11), in an axially movable manner, and a stationary switching ring for moving the housing on the pivot. The ring is axially movably supported by work cylinders e.g. pneumatically actuated short stroke cylinders. The wok cylinders are arranged at a periphery of the ring, and have piston rods hinged to the ring by a pivot joint and rotary disk joint, respectively. The ring is spaced apart from the housing in a decoupled condition.
