The device has positioning elements for positioning a decorative element i.e. decorative strip (1.1), to a door or a mudguard of a vehicle. A pressure unit presses a glued surface of the decorative element to the door or the mudguard with a preset pressure. The positioning elements include a jack console receiver (2) corresponding to a jack console of the vehicle, and a wheel arch stopper element (3) and/or plastic liners (4, 5, 6) corresponding to gaps (9, 10, 11) between two vehicle doors or between one vehicle door and a body of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for attaching a decorative element to a door or a mudguard of a vehicle.
