The device has an LED array, and an operating device (1) for regulated controlling of output signal strength of optical and acoustic signal generators (6, 8). Optical signal sensor (6') i.e. light detector, and an acoustic signal sensors (7) i.e. microphone, receive optical and acoustic signals from surrounding of a motor vehicle, respectively. A processor processes the optical and acoustic signals and for evaluating receiving signal strengths, where a result of the evaluation is a regulation parameter for regulated controlling of the output signal strength for one of the signal generators. An independent claim is also included for a method for notifying a closing operation of a motor vehicle.
