The silencer (100) has two chambers (4,5) and a combustion engine, particularly for a hand-operated small device such as a garden and park maintenance device or for a moped and a boat engine. The boat engine is designed with a reciprocating engine (3), particularly a two stroke engine. The silencer is brought in connection with an outlet (1) of a combustion chamber (2) of the reciprocating engine. A flow channel (6) is formed in aerodynamic manner between the outlet and a chamber. An exhaust gas flows back after filling the chamber.
