The covering part e.g. underbody cover part (20), has a plastic base body (18) and a thermal shielding element (16), which is sectionally integrated into the base body. The shielding element is directly connected with the base body in a firmly-bonded manner. The shielding element is made of polyamide and/or fiber composite and/or aluminum. The base body is molded at the shielding element by injection molding or impact extrusion. The shielding element is implemented thicker than a glued film. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an external covering part for an automobile.
