The invention relates to a screw element (1), particularly for cross-pull and/or cross-pressure reinforcement of wooden components by insertion into a pre-drilled core hole. The screw element (1) consists of a threaded shank (2) provided with a continuous thread (4) and a one-ended force application point (6) for the impingement of torque. The threaded shank (2) is formed by a threaded rod section (8) which is at least 600 mm long (L). The thread (4) is embodied as a self-cutting wooden screw thread which is rolled in a non-cutting manner in the form of an elevation which is defined by two flanks (12) which intersect in an outer thread edge(16) extending in the form of a screw line above a cylindrical shank core (10). The force application point (6) is formed by an originally separated application part (10) which is welded to one end of the thread rod section (8) or an application part (18) which is formed in a single piece by upsetting.
