The aim of the invention relates to a pharmaceutical preparation which is in the form of a liquid, in particular for use as an anti-irritating cough mixture. Said pharmaceutical preparation contains a combination of island moss and mallow, optionally with at least one zinc compound, in particular at least one zinc salt, and a pharmacologically acceptable support. According to the invention, the pharmaceutical preparation can be used for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of various diseases, in particular coughs and cough irritations, in particular dry cough irritations, mucous membrane irritations and mucus membrane lesions in the mouth and pharyngeal cavity, drying of the mucous membrane in the region of the mouth and pharyngeal cavity, hoarseness and bronchial catarrhs and bronchial asthma.
