A thermoplastic copolyester having its inherent viscosity be raised to a level between 0.85~1.05 dl/g through solid polymerization process for producing heat- shrinkable tube; and a method for producing the said heat shrinkable tube by having the thermoplastic copolyester melts and extruded by an extruder to form tubing which is then expanded by blowing forming, and stretched to form copolyester heat-shrinkable tube with heat shrinkage in machine direction (MD) not higher than 15% and heat shrinkage in transverse direction (TD) not less than 40%; the heat-shrinkable tube so obtained may be used as covering material and exterior insulating material for different kinds of conductor.
