The system has filters smoothing surges of curvilinear distance values that are generated by a curvilinear distance calculation unit. The filters decomposes the value surges into elementary levels as a function of aircraft`s current speed, where the surges are added one to one during periodical updates. The elementary levels are taken equal to a distance covered at the current aircraft speed over a duration of updation period. A unit calculates direct distance between the current position and a geographical position to be attained.
