The method involves pressing a cutting blade (10) for forming a series of notches (12A) that is spaced with a regular pitch (P), in relief, on an edge (11). A notched surface (10A) of the blade is flatly grinded by using an abrasive plane surface for removing material between the notches and sharpening the tooth. The blade is cut to any desired shape during pressing of the blade. The surface is treated on the blade during grinding of the surface of the blade. An independent claim is also included for a notched tooth forming installation comprising a pressing device.
