The device has a cooling circuit comprising solenoid control valves (31, 32) independent with respect to each other and closing the circuit. A decantation loop (24) and an exhaust gas recirculation heat exchanger (6) are alternatively connected to depression supplied by a vacuum pump (40) of an engine and to atmospheric pressure using the solenoid valves. An aspiration hose (30) aspirates cooling liquid in the loop and connects a downstream hose (21) of the circuit to an input of the loop. An independent claim is also included for a method for emptying heat exchanger for recycling exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
