The method involves measuring speed or torque of a shaft of a gearbox by a torque or speed sensor, and calculating acceleration of the shaft, where the shaft is connected to a gearbox. The measured acceleration is compared with a threshold value (C), and an alarm system (18) is triggered during exceeding of the measured acceleration than the threshold value, where the measurement of the speed is performed with a pass-band order of 150 Hertz.
