The display unit (1) has a screen (4) defining a symbol display surface (5). An electronic display (6) e.g. LCD, has a zone (7) in which a symbol is formed. A light source e.g. LED (8), illuminates the zone to create a projection of a symbol on the surface. An optical unit (9) e.g. magnifying lens, increases dimensions of the projection with respect to dimensions of the symbol. The display is connected to an electronic card (10) arranged parallel to the display through connection pins (60).
