The method involves implementing a software extension for a software keyboard layer of a computer keyboard e.g. QWERTY US keyboard, where the extension implements generation of characters of specific alphabets e.g. Greek alphabets, from a combination of actions on keys of the keyboard. The characters are determined for optimizing intuitive approach by a user of the keyboard from the constitution of the character to be displayed. The extension implements a wide locking mode permitting to switch between the alphabets. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a software keyboard layer of a keyboard of a computer (2) a keyboard of a computer.
