The lock (1) has a tumbler for driving an operating rod (5) housed in a casing (3), and a spring pinion (10) receiving an operating square of a handle or a control knob. The spring pinion whose axis is shifted from a side opposite to an encasing groove with respect to a plane of the operating rod. The pinion (10) acts on a spring pinion (14) through reversing pinions (13, 13'), where the pinion (14) is disposed coaxially to the tumbler in the casing.
