The method involves contacting a substrate with a salt-based compound by immersion in a liquid treating bath containing 50 percent mass of the compound and by a solution containing 5 percent mass of water. The substrate is chosen from substrates made of material comprising a wood at dry state or at wet state. The liquid treating bath is heated at temperature between 50 to 100 degree Celsius to carry out the substrate contact. The substrate to be treated is placed in a vacuum enclosure and set in contact under pressure of 5 to 10 bars with the compound under liquid form. The substrate contacts with a specific salt-based compound of formula: CH-3-(CH-2)-m-COO -X +, where m is more than 8 and less than 10, and X +is chosen from cations such as sodium ion, potassium ion and ammonium ion.
