The method involves forming a conical chamfer on an upper surface of a valve seat of an engine. The chamfer is suppressed on a part of the upper surface of the valve seat. A housing of the valve seat is formed along an axis (5a) that is inclined with respect to an axis (2a) of the valve seat. The valve seat is inserted in the housing. A valve face is formed on the valve seat after its insertion in the housing. An independent claim is also included for a valve seat comprising a stop.
