The system (10) has three electrodes (E1, E2, E3) for measuring a cardiac rhythm of a user. The electrodes are positioned with respect to each other in a manner to not define an equidistant point of the electrodes in a space containing heart of the user, where the system is operated without direct contact with skin of the user when body of the user is movable with respect to the electrodes. The electrodes are positioned in a seat or a bed. A signal selecting unit (25) selects better quality signal among signals, where the selected signal is used to determine a cardiac rate of the user.
