The crankset has a main shaft that is connected in rotation to left and right crank levers (4, 5) and is provided in a crankset case (3) of a bicycle frame (2). A removable toothed flange (8) is driven in rotation by the crank levers, and a universal accommodation unit accommodates the flange. The unit is driven in rotation by the crank levers, and places and removes the flange by interlocking. The unit is constituted of a cylindrical secondary shaft (15) coaxial to the primary shaft. The crank levers and the primary shaft are made of composite material having carbon fibers. An independent claim is also included for an assembly formed by a crankset and independent flanges.
