The system has a camera (1) including a lens (2) and a photodetectors matrix (3) arranged to capture image of a scene formed across the lens on the matrix. A Fabry-Perot interferential device (4) has parallel blades (5, 6) and an actuator (7) adapted to vary an interval between the two blades, where each blade is transparent and reflecting. The device is arranged such that the image is formed using radiation that is obtained from the scene and reflected by the device, and such that a control of the actuator varies an intensity of a spectral component of the radiation in a point of the image. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a long distance observation apparatus having an imagery system (2) a method for observing a scene using the system.
