The method involves estimating a theoritical position corresponding to a reference position of control surface in absence of failure by an estimation unit (19). A difference between the position and an effective position of the surface is calculated by a calculation unit (21) to form a residual value. Threshold value, which exceeds the residual value, is counted by comparing the residual and preset threshold values. Value of parameter of a behavior model of the surface is estimated by realizing joint estimation of a state illustrated by the theoretical position and the parameter. An independent claim is also included for an electrical flight control system of an aircraft, comprising a generation unit for generating a control order of a control surface of an aircraft.
