The canvas has a translucent web with an inner surface and an outer surface. A power supply and control unit supplies power to a lighting device and controls the device. The device has a set of light sources (500) i.e. LEDs, applied against a zone of the inner surface such that luminous flux emitted by each light source traverses the web. The web is formed of a textile weft that is covered with inner and outer films made of polyurethane. The textile weft is made of polyester or polyamide. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a captive balloon.
