The assembly has an annular cage (22) including a body provided with large and small diameter end rings connected by valve bridges. The bridges are positioned for maintaining conical rollers (20) radially at the side of inner and outer bushes (12, 16) provided with assembly bearings. The small ring has filtering surfaces (52) arranged opposite to the bush (12) at a distance that is less than 0.1 times of a diameter of a small diameter axial end (26) of the bush (12). The cage has retaining units i.e. elastic tabs, cooperated with the bearings for axially retaining the cage on the bushes. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a conical roller bearing assembly.
