摘要

The device i.e. drum brake (10), has static units i.e. brake segments (14, 16), controlled by a control device i.e. hydraulically controlled piston brake cylinder (28), between a released position in which the segments are not in contact with a movable unit i.e. cylindrical brake drum (26), and a locked position. The segments are continuously locked against the drum to immobilize a motor vehicle during parking, in the locked position. A locking mechanism has a transversal telescopic spacebar (40) to lock the segments in the locked position independent of the control device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for actuating a braking device for activating a braking function (2) a method for releasing a braking device.
