The method involves transmitting a modification message to a terminal (20) in an Internet network (1), where the modification message comprises an identifier of an instant message before sent to the terminal in the network, and an instruction to modify the instant message. The instruction is chosen from instruction to suppress a part of instant message, an instruction formatting the instant message or an instruction to complete the instant message. The modification message conforms to a message session relay protocoltype protocol.
