The device (D) has detection units (MD) for detecting requests of hands-free access to a motor vehicle (VA). Processing units (MT) e.g. central module, perform authentication of a person in response to detection of the request of hands-free access of the person and stimulate short-drop type control devices (MC) for ordering unlocking of doors and sending a door opening message to the control units, so that the control units order descending of an electric window (VE) of the door of the motor vehicle on a distance chosen before opening of the door in response to the authentication. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling hands-free access to a motor vehicle.
