A method for controlling a motor vehicle power train with partial exhaust gas recirculation in which the fresh air flow rate and the flow rate of the partially recirculated gases are regulated, either according to a rich mixture control structure or according to a control structure in lean mixture and in which the flow rates, according to the control structure in rich mixture, are regulated on set values equal to the flow instructions of the control structure in lean mixture during a transition of a structure control in rich mixture to a lean mixture control structure.
