Transliteration of roman text to Arabic

摘要

A method for suggesting transliteration for user inputs of roman text comprises receiving an original user input composed of alpha-numeric characters, identifying the possibility of transliterating the input, and determining at least one potential transliteration. Potential transliterations are determined by performing at least one of replacing a sequence of characters in the original input to a possible sequence of Arabic characters; determining the probabilities of the potential transliterated alternatives to the user input and electing the most likely transliteration according to some predetermined criteria; and verifying the suggested output against a validation repository (lexicon) having a large corpus of Arabic words. The method accounts for different ways of representing Arabic words using roman characters and does not analyse the meaning of the words.
