PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repellent for Haemadipsa zeylanica var. japonica (Whitman) and uncomfortable pest insects without easily flown out by wetting caused by river water, dew drop water of grass and the like and with keeping transpiration of the effective amount of an active ingredient for a long period of time by retaining the active ingredient having repellent effect to Haemadipsa zeylanica var. japonica (Whitman) and uncomfortable pest insects on an active ingredient-retaining and transpiration-regulating film after coating or applying the active ingredient onto the objective substance, and a method for repelling the same. PSOLUTION: The repellent for Haemadipsa zeylanica var. japonica (Whitman) and uncomfortable pest insects comprises a plant essence-derived active ingredient and/or agrochemical active ingredient for uncomfortable pest insects, (B) an agent for regulating retention and transpiration of the active ingredient and (C) a polar organic solvent and has ≤50 mPa s viscosity, and a vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymer is used as the agent for regulating the retention and transpiration of the active ingredient.
