PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow defocus information based on a defocus amount obtained in a number of defocus amount calculation regions to be included in an LV display image, without reducing a frame rate of LV display. PSOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a defocus amount calculating means 10 for calculating a defocus amount in a defocus amount calculation region using an output signal form an imaging sensor 3; an image generating means 9 for sequentially generating source images using output signals from the imaging sensor; an image processing means 9 for sequentially generating display images using source images; and a display means 12 for presenting a video image within an imaging range by updating and displaying in a predetermined term the display images generated sequentially. The defocus amount calculating means calculates a defocus amount in a defocus amount calculation region that is different for each source image. The image processing means performs image processing on the source images using a plurality of defocus amounts calculated in different defocus amount calculation regions, thereby generating the display images including defocus information.
