PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device facilitating the elongation of life.;SOLUTION: A chrysene which has different aryl groups bound thereto and has a large energy gap is applied as a host constituting the light-emitting layer of an organic EL device. Thus, the mutual association of the molecules is inhibited to substantially prevent their crystallization.
