PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type organic light emitting display device excellent in gradation reproducibility and to provide a method for driving an active matrix type organic light emitting display device.;SOLUTION: The active matrix type organic light emitting display device includes a plurality of video signal lines VL and a plurality of pixels PX. Each pixel PX has: a cathode, an anode, and an organic light emitting diode OLED including an organic layer; a P channel type drive transistor DR; a first capacitor section Ck; and a second capacitor section.
