PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that necessity for developing a dyeing method which obtains strong colorings based on ortho-diphenol, especially based on a natural extract abundant in ortho-diphenol, while suppressing bleaching of keratinous fiber, is required, and especially, necessity for obtaining colorings which have low invasiveness to the hair, simultaneously stand external factors (light, bad weather, shampoo treatment), are persistent and homogeneous and maintain strength and dyeability is required.;SOLUTION: The method for dyeing a keratinous fiber includes coating the fiber with (i) at least one ortho-diphenol derivative, (ii) at least one metal salt, (iii) at least hydrogen peroxide or at least one system for forming hydrogen peroxide, (iv) at least a (bi)carbonate and (v) at least one surfactant.
