SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CT SCANNING OF HAND BAGGAGE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CT scanning system and a CT scanning method for analyzing unreconstructed scan data for specifying objects having potential threats. PSOLUTION: A hand baggage CT scanning method for determining objects having potential threats eliminates the need for complete reconstruction of bags. CT scan data is analyzed during scanning to specify the locations of potential threats. The analysis is based upon a chart representing objects in the bags. The mass, size, location and atomic number of objects are determined based upon the chart data. Any potential threats are further subjected to data modification and reconstruction to enhance the view of the threats. Dual energy scanning may also be used to determine density for resolution of potential threats. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
