PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data verification apparatus for verifying validity of data without shifting data to a disk device to which a check sum has been added without changing an application program nor the data format of a user file. PSOLUTION: In writing data in a user file, a check sum creation means creates a check sum for each file block on the basis of written data in the hierarchy of an OS, and writes the check sum in a check sum storage file. In reading data out of the user file, a check sum verification means reads the check sum of each file block including input data from the check sum storage file, and compares and collates consistency between the read check sum and the read data, and verifies the validity of the data of each file block.
