PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the production cost of devices for measuring the carbon dioxide concentration in exhaled breath to spread the devices for respiratory rehabilitation. PSOLUTION: A method of measuring the carbon dioxide concentration in exhaled breath includes an ultrasonic transmitting device and receiving device instead of a carbon dioxide sensor, and measures the velocity of ultrasonic waves propagating through exhaled breath. The obtained data is separately converted to the carbon dioxide concentration using a respiratory quotient value obtained by calibrating carbon dioxide in exhaled breath.
