IMAGING APPARATUS HAVING IMAGE DISPLAY MEANS

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus such as a digital single-lens reflex camera which can perform autofocus at a position intended by a photographer. PSOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging means, an image display means 19, autofocus means 31, 102 and 202, and a control means 100 controlling the autofocus means. The imaging means includes an imaging device 33 imaging subject luminous flux from a photographic lens 206. The image display means displays image data acquired by the imaging means. The autofocus means performs an autofocus function by automatically performing the focus adjustment of the photographic lens in a selected focus detection area of a photographing field. When allowing the autofocus means to perform the autofocus function after photographer's manual operation, the control means selects the focus detection area of the photographing field based on information related to the manual operation, and allows the autofocus means to perform the autofocus function.
