PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hollow crimped polyphenylene sulfide staple fibers which is capable of efficiently producing the hollow crimped polyphenylene sulfide staple fibers (raw cotton) excellent in chemical resistance, heat resistance and heat retainability and having excellent bulkiness, compressibility and lightness.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the hollow crimped polyphenylene sulfide staple fibers which each comprises polyphenylene sulfide, has a hollow cross-section having a hollowness percentage of 5 to 45%, and has a crimp rate of 3-15 mountains /25 mm and a crimp degree of 5-30% has the steps spinning the polyphenylene sulfide from a spinneret for hollow fibers, blowing cooling air on the one sides of the spun fibers to asymmetrically cool the spun fibers, taking, drawing and push-crimping the cooled fibers, and then cutting the crimped fibers in a prescribed length.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
