PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object recognition apparatus, a license plate recognition apparatus and an object color discrimination apparatus that discriminates the color of a body or plate, all day.;SOLUTION: The object recognition apparatus includes one optical lens, and a spectroscope for dividing light from the optical lens into two lights. The lights divided by the spectroscope are received by a color solid state imaging device and a monochrome solid state imaging device, respectively. The monochrome solid state imaging device is irradiated with near infrared light synchronously. In the daytime, an image from the monochrome or color solid state imaging device is used for recognizing a license plate, and the color solid state imaging device is used for determining the color of a body or license plate. The shutter speed of the monochrome solid state imaging device is fixed at a set value, a diaphragm is controlled with the brightness of the plate, and the shutter speed of the color solid state imaging device is controlled with the brightness of the color plate, so that the color of the body or plate can be determined all day.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
