PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detection apparatus and a method for identifying the position of extinction of in-coming radiation, capable of enhancing the accuracy of position detection of the in-coming radiation by a simple technique.;SOLUTION: The radiation detection apparatus 50 includes: a scintillator array 10 composed by two-dimensionally arranging a plurality of kinds of scintillators 21-24 which generate rays of fluorescence having mutually-different waveforms by interaction with radiation (in-coming radiation γ); a photodetector 30 for detecting fluorescence generated in a scintillator 21-24, and a determination part for determining the kind i of the scintillator 21-24 where the interaction occurs, based on information on waveforms Di of fluorescence detected by the photodetector 30.
